Tracy Skinner was born in 1957 at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. As a military "brat" he traveled extensively and enjoyed the new experiences each place provided. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and continued his travels. He has lived or worked across most of the United States and Europe with some side trips in Canada, Columbia, and Saudi Arabia. He retired from the US Air Force in 1994 and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art (Painting) at the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona in 1997. He worked with Tucson Pima Arts Council, teaching computer animation to children in an afterschool program, offering technology classes for Artists & Others, and provided technical support for TPAC.
Tracy was a computer operator throughout most of his life and decided to use computers for something he enjoys by using them as part of the creative process. Familiar with numerous computer platforms and programs, he is constantly striving to find new ways to use the digital medium in conjunction with more traditional media.
Skinner's works have been shown at the MAC21 International Contemporary Art Fair & Art-e-mail Centro de Exposiciones Sur, Málaga, Spain and Exhibition of Virtual Art, Room of Art, Library UPB Pontifical University Bolivariana, Medellin, Columbia. He was commissioned to do a piece for computer department of the US Air Force Academy. Prints of his digital works have been displayed in the Dean's Office, College of Fine Arts, The University of Arizona. Skinner's artwork was seen in The Droplet Journal, a monthly poetry magazine. Bridget Mintz Testa features reproductions of his works in the book, Graphical Treasures of the Internet. As a winner of the Liquetex Student Paint Exchange, two of his paintings are on permanent display at Liquetex's Web Site Gallery.
Started a new chapter in his life, moving to Colorado in January 2015.
